Retrosheet's First Semi-Annual Release of 2026

Retrosheet is pleased to announce its first semi-annual update of 2026. Major thanks go out to Joe Callahan for generating the "Games/People/Parks" portion of the website and to Rob Wood for his significant efforts in helping to prepare the data presented here.

What's New in This Release

• 1908 and 1909 Event files, including some deduced files, are now available for all of the 1908 and 1909 American and National League seasons. Special thanks to Rob Wood for leading this effort and thanks to our team of deducers: Cliff Blau, Jim Herdman, Dave Smith, and Rob Wood.


• 1897 Box-score files are now available for the 1897 National League season. Thanks to Dick Cramer and Cliff Blau for their help with 19th-century seasons. We have also added the 1900 Chronicle-Telegraph Cup, a postseason series between the first-place Brooklyn Superbas and the second-place Pittsburgh Pirates. Thanks to Javier Anderson for finding these games.


• Negro Leagues This release includes the 1933 and 1934 Negro League seasons. For the 1933 season, Retrosheet has identified 278 Negro League games for which we have box scores for 194 and play-by-play accounts for 99 of these games (95 of the play-by-play accounts are deduced). For the 1934 season, Retrosheet has identified 281 Negro League games for which we have box scores for 215 and play-by-play accounts for 116 of these games (107 of the play-by-play accounts are deduced). This brings the total number of Negro League games in Retrosheet's collection to 8,214. Retrosheet has line scores and batteries for 6,498 of these games, box-score level detail for 4,643 of these games, and (mostly deduced) play-by-play accounts for 2,187 of these games. Thanks to Tom Barnett, Alan Cohen, Dean Esgrow, Laura Peebles, and Wes Tervo for their help compiling these games.


• Individual game updates In addition to all of the above updates, Retrosheet has updated our event files for 14,631 games across previously-released seasons (1910 - 2025) through the discovery of new scorecards, new newspaper sources, and a growing number of radio and television accounts that are being made available online. In many cases, edits to games are quite small: an added attendance figure, a clarification of one or two plays. But these improvements include the promotion of 73 deduced files to full event files, the removal of 178 games from our 'most wanted' lists, and updated and/or improved pitch data for 337 games. Special thanks to John Farrell, Bill Ivimey, Bill Way, Jay Wigley, Rob Wood, Bob Yahr, and others for their help in this work. A list of games for which some improvements have been made can be found here (this list does not include the 1908 and 1909 seasons or Negro League games). The specific games which have been promoted to event files and/or removed from our 'most wanted' lists can be found here and here, respectively.
