Commissioner Landis was not a fan of major-league players or teams barnstorming. He banned American League and National League teams from barnstorming after 1924 and imposed a series of restrictions on barnstorming by individual players.
Because of this, the only interracial games for which box scores have been found following the 1925 season took place under the auspices of the California Winter League. Fortunately, the California Eagle, a weekly African-American newspaper in Los Angeles, provided outstanding coverage of the California Winter League, including play-by-play accounts for 15 games involving the one black team in the California Winter League, the Philadelphia Royal Giants (PRG). Their opponents in these games were Joe Pirrone's All Stars (PIR) and the White Kings (WHK). In addition to the 15 games for which the California Eagle provided play-by-play, box scores and newspaper game stories were found for nine additional games. Play-by-play accounts for these games were deduced from newspaper game stories and box scores.
